This movie was unusual in different ways, the storyline was strange, but the characters were interesting enough to follow along with. This was written and directed by Jon Kasdan. The leading character in this is played by Adam Brody as Carter Webb his character writes for soft core pornography. Brody carries this film with ease. JoBeth Williams is the mother of Carter and tries to support him in his choices that he makes. The basic storyline is that he gets involved and forms a bond with the neighbors across the street after visiting with his elderly grandmother who is played by Olympia Dukakis as Phyllis.
I haven’t seen Meg Ryan in a while she plays Sarah Hardwicke in this film. It is a role that she seemed to fit quite well and brought an extra something to the part. Her daughter Lucy Hardwicke is played by Kristen Stewart who is quite popular right now from the Twilight (2008) movie. I didn’t recognize her at first she looks much different in this film. Nelson Hardwicke is played by Clark Gregg and is very zombie-like in his appearance on screen. The youngest daughter Paige Hardwicke is played by Makenzie Vega who is a very unique child in this film. Her character is the insightful presence of reason and rational thought with a heart which I think you will find interesting.
The rest of the cast includes: Graham Wardle as Gabe Foley, Danielle Savre, Kelsey Keel, Gia Mantegna, and Rob Reinis is Avi Rosenberg, Dustin Milligan is Eric Watts, Elise Gatien is Tiffany and Christine Danielle is Tanya. There are more appearances that include Jeff Cunningham as Howard Portchnik, Tamara Lovegrove, Brittany Starling, Ilyse Mimoun is Nelson’s Assistant, Karin Konoval plays Dr. Ida Rosen and Ginnifer Goodwin appears as Janey. Overall, I think you will find this film to be enjoyable to watch, and it is a pretty simple story but done in a different kind of way. I wasn’t completely happy with the ending, and thought it could have ended differently. But, I will recommend still watching it. The tagline for the film is: “Get ready to fall”.
