The Lost Boys (1987)
This was quite good for a kind of comedy/horror film. The cast was perfect in this and the execution of the editing and scene transitions worked flawlessly. The actors surely had fun playing their roles in this one and it shows on screen. What I liked was the atmosphere of the movie…a nearby boardwalk with amusement rides near the ocean setting things up for the fright that follows.
The setup is a mother with her two sons move to a town in CA, many people have died in the area where they move to. The suspicions’ are right, and the younger son discovers what really is going on. The area is plagued with vampires.
The lead actors in this one are Jason Patric playing the role of Michael, his brother Sam played by one of the Corey’s (Corey Haim). And veteran actress Dianne Wiest plays Lucy the mother of Michael and Sam.
Their grandfather (Grandpa) is played by actor Barnard Hughes who has starred in many films.
And veteran actor Edward Herrmann plays Max.
You will also see Kiefer Sutherland (“24” tv series) as David, Jami Gertz (“Still Standing” tv series) as Star the love interest of Jason Patrics character Michael. Also, Corey Feldman is one of the Edgar brothers who help Sam along the way.
It is disappointing to see actor Alex Winters career never pick up past the Bill & Ted movies starring alongside Keanu Reeves. But maybe another role awaits him to help him get back on the Hollywood radar. He also stars as one of the vampires in this film. I highly recommend giving this one a watch if you never have.
